Overview
The project
MordenWave started as a foundational project to master Laravel while tackling the challenges of high-volume data management. The platform allows users to create and read blogs, but its core focus is on performance engineering. I implemented advanced caching mechanisms, query optimizations, and hybrid rendering techniques to efficiently manage and display over 20,000 posts without compromising on speed.
Problem
The challenge
Learning how to maintain application performance when dealing with large datasets (20,000+ posts) that would typically slow down a standard CRUD application.
Approach
The solution
Focused on 'performance-first' development by implementing aggressive caching, index-optimized queries, and lazy loading strategies to ensure a smooth reading experience at any scale.
Highlights
Key features
High-Volume Data
Engineered to handle and display over 20,000 blog posts efficiently.
Advanced Caching
Utilized Redis and Laravel's cache drivers to store frequently accessed data.
Query Optimization
Fine-tuned database interactions to ensure rapid content delivery regardless of dataset size.
Static-like Rendering
Optimized the frontend to deliver content with the speed of a static site after the initial load.
Outcomes
By the numbers
- 20k+
- Posts handled
- 90%
- Faster query execution
- < 300ms
- Page load time
- Gained deep expertise in Laravel's internal architecture and optimization features
- Developed a reusable framework for handling large datasets in future web applications
- Mastered the use of caching layers to significantly improve user experience under load
